Auto Insurance

Before you take your car out for a spin, make sure you have the right protection in case you figure in a car accident and injure someone or cause damage to their vehicle.

Whether you are driving in California or Arizona, the law mandates that you obtain minimum liability coverage. This covers costs related to the death or injury of another motorist or damage to another person’s property from an accident that is your fault.

In California, for example, the minimum bodily injury or death liability coverage is $15,000 per person and $30,000 per accident, while the minimum property damage liability coverage is $5,000. Arizona’s minimum liability coverage requirements are higher at $25,000 (per person) and $50,000 (per accident) for bodily injury or death liability and $15,000 for property damage liability.

More Protection Beyond What Is Required

Remember that the auto insurance policy mandated by law does not cover you or your vehicle. It would be a good idea if you consider an additional layer of protection so you won’t have to pay thousands of dollars out of your pocket.

We at Beasy Insurance Services highly recommend that you purchase collision and comprehensive coverage as well.

Collision coverage pays for the repair of your vehicle after it gets mangled from a collision with another car or a structure. On the other hand, comprehensive coverage pays for the repair of your car if it’s damaged by non-accident-related events such as vandalism, theft, and natural occurrences. The two are typically sold together and may be required if you lease a car or purchase one through financing.

Consider Additional Coverage

To further protect your financial health, you can add other components to your auto insurance policy. These include:

Medical payments coverage: Covers the medical expenses in the event you and/or your passengers are injured in an accident, whether it is your fault or not.

Uninsured motorist coverage: Deals with your medical bills if the motorist at fault is not insured.

Underinsured motorist coverage: Reimburses the costs of your medical care if the at-fault motorist’s coverage is not enough to cover you.
